Kaymer aiming for top spot
GOLF: Martin Kaymer is looking to reclaim his lead in the Race of Dubai this weekend when he makes his comeback in the Castello Masters in Portugal.
German Kaymer has missed two months with a foot injury and has since been overtaken by Lee Westwood and Rory McIlroy in the standings.
Neither of his rivals are in action this weekend but Kaymer, who needs to win the €333,000 first prize to reclaim the lead, is taking nothing for granted.
“This is my first tournament back so I do not know how I am going to feel after 72 holes,” he said.
BDO reject PDC takeover bid
DARTS: The head of the British Darts Organisation has rebuffed a takeover offer from rival body the Professional Darts Corporation.
PDC chief Barry Hearn offered £1m to unite the two bodies, but Olly Croft said the BDO is “not for sale” at any price. “This is nothing more than a cheap publicity stunt,” Croft said.
Briscoe gets England nod
RUGBY LEAGUE: Hull winger Tom Briscoe is a surprise inclusion for the England side to face France in their Four Nations opener in Doncaster tomorrow.
The 19-year-old only joined the squad this week as a replacement for the injured Sean O’Loughlin but gets a start alongside Leeds Rhinos pair Kevin Sinfield and Lee Smith.
St Helens back Kyle Eastmond is set to make his England debut from the bench.
