Space X-linked Marex in £25m Nottingham Forest front-of-shirt deal
Space X-linked global services platform Marex have become Nottingham Forest’s front-of-shirt partner ahead of the Premier League’s return on Friday.
The multi-year deal sees the brand replace Bally’s as the Premier League ushers in a voluntary ban on gambling and casino brands being on the front of player shirts.
Marex Financial was the firm that acted as the public offer platform operator during Space X’s IPO earlier this year – meaning UK investors had access to the float of Elon Musk’s rocketry and satellite firm.
City AM understands the deal is worth in the region of £25m over three years.
Evangelos Marinakis, Nottingham Forest owner, said: “We are delighted to welcome Marex as our new front of shirt partner.
“Marex is an ambitious, global business with a strong reputation for excellence and performance, and those qualities reflect our own ambitions for Nottingham Forest.”
Nottingham Forest in finance deal
Nottingham Forest finished 16th in last year’s Premier League, five points clear of the relegation zone, despite making it to the semi-finals of the Europa League.
But it was a tumultuous season off the field too, with a fight with Crystal Palace – a club Marinakis is currently suing – over European qualification coming alongside a number of managerial changes that saw Nuno Espirito Santo, Ange Postecoglou, Sean Dyche and Vitor Pereira all leave the club.
They will be managed by Oliver Glasner this season after he left Europa Conference League winners Crystal Palace in the summer.
Added Marinakis, who also has stakes in Greek side Olympiacos FC and Portugal’s Rio Ave FC: “This partnership is another important step in the continued growth of our club, and we look forward to working together and building a successful relationship.”
Marex chief Ian Lowitt said the deal “marks an important step in Marex’s continued development, and we look forward to what we can achieve together”.
