Skyscanner hits turbulence but hotel and car hire revenues soar
Edinburgh-based flight search app Skyscanner saw a slowdown in annual revenue growth last year, but posted growth in new markets like hotel and car hire.
Revenues at the privately-owned company rose 42 per cent to £93m in 2014, a slowdown from the 96 per cent increase posted in 2013.
In 2014 Skyscanner also expanded to offer hotel and car hire search, which grew to account for a quarter of its revenue.
During its last funding round in October 2013 Skyscanner raised an undisclosed amount from US venture capital firm Sequoia Capital with an investment that valued the flight search group at $800m (£459m).
Skyscanner also reported monthly users rose to 35m people, up from 25m last year, with core profits of £20m for 2014.
