Skipper hope for axed Luke
EUROPE captain Paul McGinley insists England’s Luke Donald has a Ryder Cup future despite leaving the former world No1 out of his team to face the United States this month.
McGinley yesterday named Stephen Gallacher, Ian Poulter and Lee Westwood as his three wildcards, at the expense of Donald, who has been on the winning side in each of his four Ryder Cup appearances.
“His record is absolutely outstanding,” said the skipper. “He’s a player that will no doubt go on to make many more appearances in the Ryder Cup and it was a very, very difficult call that I had to make, but one that I had to do in the interests of the European team.”
