Skanska wins £600m Battersea Power Station building contract
Skanska has been chosen as preferred bidder to redevelop the Battersea Power Station building, it emerged yesterday, in a major coup for the Swedish construction firm.
The company is understood to have beaten Balfour Beatty, Lend Lease and Mace to win the estimated £600m job. A formal announcement is expected to be made within the coming weeks.
The contract will see Skanska work on transforming the iconic red brick building into 254 homes, 115 shops, restaurants and 58,000 square metres of offices.
It is already working on phase one of the site, which includes the fitting-out of 866 homes known as Circus West. Battersea Power Station Development Company declined to comment.
