Six million homes potentially impacted by Sky router hack
Around million homes networks were under threat after Sky routers had a significant software bug that allowed hackers to break into personal data.
According to research from Pen Test Partners, the bug allowed hackers to take over home networks and could have affected anyone who had not changed the router’s default admin password.
Affected models included the likes of Sky Hub and Booster 3.
The problem has now been fixed , but researchers said it took Sky 18 months to address.
Pen Test Partner’s Ken Munro said to the BBC that the bug meant that a hacker could “take over someone’s online life”.
