Serco draws up shortlist to fill chief role after Hyman resigns
A SHORTLIST of candidates has already been drawn up to take on the top role at outsourcing firm Serco after Chris Hyman’s shock resignation on Friday, according to reports.
Ian Tyler, the former chief executive of FTSE 250 construction firm Balfour Beatty, is reportedly one of the leading contenders and Andy Parker, joint chief operating officer at outsourcing firm Capita, is also said to be on the list, according to the Sunday Times. Hyman, who was chief executive of Serco for 11 years, suddenly quit following a string of high-profile failures at the firm, including allegations of fraud relating to a prisoner transfer contract.
Ed Casey, who has led Serco’s Americas division since 2005, has been appointed acting group chief executive while the board looks for a permanent replacement.
Serco said the reports were “speculation”.
