Sepp Blatter’s reign as Fifa president is four times longer than FTSE bosses
Sepp Blatter's reign as Fifa president will be four times as long as the average tenure of bosses at FTSE 100 companies.
Securing a fifth term as the leader of the world's football federation will take his time in charge to 21 years. That's exactly four times the average time spent at the top by the bosses of the FTSE 100 – 5.25 years.
Blatter, who was today defiant in his belief that he should stay in charge after winning the support of Fifa members, has already been in charge three times longer than the average FTSE 100 boss after his 17 year stint.
He may soon be heading for the milestone of two decades in charge, but Blatter will still have a way to go to catch up with the longest standing FTSE bosses. Martin Gilbert boasts an impressive 32 years as chief, while WPP boss Martin Sorell has 29 under his belt.
