Sarries to stage match in Cape Town
SARACENS have announced Cape Town Stadium as the venue for their Heineken Cup match against Biarritz in January.
The Premiership champions will become the first club to host a match in the competition outside of Europe, following the example of London rivals Wasps and Harlequins, who played their LV=Cup game in Abu Dhabi back in January.
“As a club, we want to push boundaries,” said Sarries chairman Nigel Wray. “We have been a north London rugby club since 1876, but we have added a strong South African flavour, with Remgro as 50 per cent shareholders and around a dozen of our players having strong South African connections.”
