Russian guests rack up a five-figure bill on their Christmas day
FOR THOSE not in the know, Russia celebrated its own Christmas day last week, with a few of the capital’s wealthiest visitors racking up a very impressive bill at City eatery M’s Westminster outpost.
A party of six headed straight for M’s members bar, starting as they meant to go on with six bottles of Dom Perignon priced at £490 each.
After the aperitifs came the main event; a round of kobe beef steaks which added £900 to the cost.
The party rounded off their evening with six bottles of Krug. An added service charge just shy of £1,200 brought the final total to an eye watering £10,766.25.
So chuffed were the staff that they even threw in some caviar for free.
M’s owner Martin Williams told The Capitalist that they plan to come back on Wednesday to celebrate the “Old New Year”, right after watching Chelsea play West Brom. Their compatriot Roman Abramovitch endured a tough end to 2015, sacking his club’s controversial manager Jose Mourinho after an horrific start to the season that left the west Londoners close to the relegation zone. Granted, with Mourinho gone, Chelsea have won two on the bounce – so, will these fans be celebrating on Wednesday, or drowning their sorrows?
