Ronaldo scores top spot on Instagram rich list
Cristiano Ronaldo has soared to the top of Instagram’s annual rich list, crowning him king among celebrities who can charge the most money for a sponsored post on the social media platform.
The footballer can reportedly now charge as much as £1.2m to endorse a product on social media and post to his 307 million Instagram followers.
He is now the most followed person on Instagram, and across all social media networks has more than 550 million followers.
Products Ronaldo has endorsed include mobile phone games, home exercise equipment and hair products.
Mike Bandar, co-founder of HopperHQ, which compiles the unofficial list on Instagram’s top earners, told the Guardian: “With the Euros starting earlier this month and a few controversial marketing moves over the last couple of weeks, Ronaldo’s presence has skyrocketed.”
Earlier this month the footballer publicly snubbed Coca-Cola at a Euros press conference by removing the fizzy drink from his table, then holding up a bottle of water and saying “agua”, in a bid to encourage people to drink that instead.
Other top earners to make the Instagram rich list include Dwayne “the Rock” Johnson and singer Ariana Grande.
Fellow sports star Lionel Messi also made the top 10 Instagram rich list, along with celebrities Kim Kardashian and Kylie Jenner, and singers Beyoncé, Selena Gomez and Justin Bieber.
Model Kendall Jenner also made the list.
