Rolls-Royce wins new £755m Emirates order
UK engine maker Rolls-Royce has secured new contracts worth a total $1.2bn (£755m) with Dubai-based Emirates airline to service engines on 50 of its aircraft fleet.
Rolls-Royce will provide TotalCare long-term services support for Trent 700 engines in 29 of Emirates’ Airbus A330 aircraft and Trent 800 engines in 21 Boeing 777 aircraft.
The news comes a day after it announced a £740m order to supply engines for a fleet of Airbus A330 planes operated by China Eastern Airlines.
It takes the UK company’s total new orders this week to £1.9bn.
Emirates’ chairman and chief executive, Sheikh Ahmed bin Saeed Al-Maktoum said: “These agreements will extend the business relationship and strengthen the partnership between the two companies.”
Rolls-Royce’s shares rose to a high of 620p today on the news.
