Rolls-Royce reaches agreement with union over Barnoldswick’s future
Rolls-Royce has reached an agreement with UK union Unite to operate the Barnoldswick factory in Lancashire for another 10 years, freezing compulsory redundancies for five years. The agreement builds on protections that were previously secured in 2020.
“This is a tremendous achievement for the workers at Barnoldswick who have stood solidly in support of one another and their community in the fight for a long-term future and cast iron guarantees for their plant,” said Unite’s assistant general secretary Steve Turner.
Unite’s campaign began in early 2020 when the engineering company announced its intentions to merge its Barnoldswick plants and move part of production to Singapore.
