RHS Chelsea Flower Show attracts Britain’s biggest business bigwigs including Rupert Murdoch and Richard Desmond
Some of Britain’s most famous business names flocked to the world-famous RHS Chelsea Flower Show on Monday.
The annual event, organised by the Royal Horticultural Society, was attended by the former chief executive of J Sainsbury Justin King, Indian steel czar Lakshmi Mittal, media mogul Rupert Murdoch and his new wife Jerry Hall, and owner of Express Newspapers Richard Desmond among others.
Other business magnates who attended the show included current Sainsbury’s boss Mike Coupe and Prudential communications director Jonathan Oliver. They rubbed shoulders with the celebrity set including Bond girl Naomie Harris, actor Bill Nighy and Judi Dench.
One of the most popular art installations among the crowd was a 5,000 poppies exhibit made up of over 300,000 individually crocheted poppies in the grounds of the Royal Hospital Chelsea.
Members of the Royal family including the Queen, the Duke of Edinburgh, the Countess of Wessex, Prince Harry, and the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge enjoyed the show earlier in the day.
The exhibition, which has been running since 1913 (apart from gaps during the two world wars), opens to the public today at the Royal Hospital Chelsea.
