Redknapp in the reckoning for Russia role
FORMER Tottenham, Portsmouth and West Ham manager Harry Redknapp is, alongside Fabio Capello, among those being considered for the vacant Russia job as the Russia Football Union accelerates its search to replace Dick Advocaat.
Redknapp has been available since last month being sacked by Tottenham and replaced by Andre Villas-Boas but has regardless sufficiently impressed to be included among an illustrious array of names on the RFU’s managerial shortlist.
“The Russian Football Union has officially informed that the organisation plans to consult, in full compliance with the rules of Fifa and Uefa, the appointment of the head coach of Russian national team, with the following experts,” read an RFU statement.
“Rafael Benitez, Anatoliy Byshovets, Marcelo Bielsa, Valery Gazzaev, Josep Guardiola, Fabio Capello, Andrei Kobelev, Yuri Krasnozhan, Marcello Lippi, Valery Nepomnyashchy, Nikolai Pisarev, Harry Redknapp, Yuri Semin.”
