● Gerald Cavendish Grosvenor – real estate
Gerald Cavendish Grosvenor is ranked 78 on the list. As the sixth Duke of Westminster, Grosvenor is the wealthiest landowner in the UK with a net worth of $11bn (£7bn), down from $13bn from last year. Grosvenor, age 60, is based in Chester. He made his fortune though his private company Grosvenor Group, which owns real estate on five continents.
● Reuben Brothers – real estate
David and Simon Reuben, with a net worth of $9bn (£5.7bn), are ranked 100 on the list. The brothers made their fortune through investments and real estate. Last month, they bought London’s only private heliport.
● Charles Cadogan – real estate
Ranked number 230 on the list, Charles Cadogan, age 75, is worth $4.6bn (£3bn) due to his work in real estate. The eighth Earl Cadogan’s fortune rose again this year with his real estate investments in London. Cadogan began his career as a merchant banker at Schroder Wagg. His family owns a 90-acre estate in Chelsea and Knightsbridge.

Richard Branson is in a three-way tie for position 255. Branson, 61, is a self-made billionaire through his soft drinks-to-air travel Virgin Company. This year, Branson opened the world’s first commercial spaceport in New Mexico. His net worth is $4.2bn, which has held steady since last year. Sir James Dyson, owner of Dyson vacuum cleaners, also ranks at 255 with a net worth of $4.2bn, as do Arcadia Group owners Sir Philip and Cristina Green, whose net worth sank by almost 40 per cent.
