RBS hopes to name new chief executive on Friday
The Royal Bank of Scotland is hoping to name its new chief executive alongside its results on Friday, according to Sky sources.

However, there is no formal deadline for Friday, the sources reportedly said.
The current favourite is internal candidtate Ross McEwan, who runs RBS's retial banking division. Other internal rivals include Chris Sullivan and Bruce van Saun, while external candidates include former Barclays banker David Roberts.
In City A.M. last week, Sky News' City editor Mark Kleinman said:
McEwan may have had little interaction with the City during his brief time at RBS but has impressed Hampton with his efforts to date.
Do not rule out entirely the emergence of a surprise external candidate but my money’s firmly on McEwan. We shouldn’t have long to wait to find out.

BlackRock last week confirmed that its Asia-Pacific chairman Mark McCombe – who has also headed up HSBC's Hong Kong office – had ruled himself out of leaving for RBS at this time.
