Radcliffe left rueful after foot injury ravages Olympics dream
WORLD record holder Paula Radcliffe has revealed her devastation at having to withdraw from the London 2012 marathon.
Given that she has failed in her four previous attempts to win an Olympics medal, the London Games represented her final hope of fulfilling that particular ambition so it is only natural that a debilitating foot injury is now the source such anguish.
“It hurts so much to finally admit to myself that it isn’t going to happen,” 38-year-old Radcliffe said. “However hard today is, finally closing the door on that dream, at least I can know that I truly have tried absolutely everything. Now however, is the time to accept that it [the foot] is just not going to settle in time.”
