QPR can make it five defeats on the bounce for Villa
THE VERY public spat between Harry Redknapp and Adel Taarabt has overshadowed what was a great performance from Queens Park Rangers in Sunday’s dramatic 3-2 loss to Liverpool at Loftus Road.
How Rangers didn’t emerge with at least a point is hard to fathom, but two own goals didn’t help their cause and it suggested very much that the footballing gods are not cutting them any slack.
Another defeat on Monday evening to Aston Villa could spell the end of Redknapp’s tenure in the west London hotseat. A press release from owner Tony Fernandes this week made it clear he was not happy with Redknapp and Taarabt playing out their differences in public.
The good news for the club is that Villa are on an even worse run than QPR. They have lost their last four without scoring and, although those reverses came at the hands of Arsenal, Chelsea, Manchester City and Everton, it’s clear the early promise they displayed has gone.
Both teams have only hit four goals this season, but if QPR can take some of the chances they are sure to create if reproducing Sunday’s effort, then they should be able to claim their first win in five games over Villa in the Premier League era.
The hosts’ supremacy is trading at 0.1-0.3 and buying at that price looks decent value.
