Project PAI Debuts in London Blockchain Scene
The growing maturity of the crypto market, and bitcoin in particular, has London investors finally ready to wade into cryptocurrency pool. This rise in confidence means many popular cryptocurrency projects are now entering the London market.
Recently, one such international blockchain – Project PAI, held their launch event in the heart of London’s financial center. According to its website and white paper, Project PAI wants to allow everyone to create their own Personal AI – what they refer to as PAI – with the data used to create the PAI all secured on the blockchain.
Project PAI envisions the PAI as a repository and a digital manifestation of all the data we create in our everyday use of digital devices, whether it is online shopping, social media, or even using online banking or health management apps. The project claims that sharing the data is voluntary, and the data goes to training the Personal AI to behave like the individual creator. The individuals who tie data to their PAIs maintain control of that data, and can share it with developers on the blockchain while earning compensation for data sharing.
It’s an interesting idea, and certainly consistent with recent sentiments regarding who has access to and can use our digital data. Much has been made about data security and data ownership, especially with the recent enforcement of GDPR. Project PAI views the blockchain as a non-regulatory, programming based way to enable everyone to have more control of their data that is shared and used, and even creates a way for people to monetize their data.
At the launch event, guests got to hear about Project PAI’s vision, learn about the the project’s native currency PAI Coin, and some were even able to attain some PAI Coin by participating in activities at the launch event. Guests were also able to experience creating their own PAI via a beta application created by US AI company ObEN – a Project PAI adopter that provided their AI technology for the PAI Blockchain. According to organizers, ObEN is working with healthcare organizations, retail and hospitality companies, and even celebrities to create PAIs that will enable users to interact with the intelligent PAIs of doctors, singers, and even each other.
Project PAI is one of the more seasoned projects to come to the UK. In addition to having demonstrable technology, Project PAI has already launched its mainnet and opened its github repository. PAI Coin is listed on several major exchanges, including UK based exchange Bitfinex, making it readily available in the UK. Project PAI’s blockchain is based on the Bitcoin blockchain protocol, with additional capabilities including the ability to securely exchange data on the blockchain through the use of a concurrent torrent network. Users can send encrypted data to each other attached to PAI Coin transactions, with the data exchange recorded on the blockchain ledger.
In addition to the launch event, representatives from ObEN met with researchers and organizations at Oxford and Imperial College London to discuss potential research projects in the field of AI and blockchain.
According to organizers, with the success of this launch event, Project PAI will look forward to greatly expanding their efforts in the UK and will soon be back with more events across the country.
