Price of football: Arsenal season ticket price rises yet again as Chelsea and Tottenham prices stay stagnant

Arsenal have once again been named as the club with the most expensive season ticket in England.

 

BBC Sport’s annual price of football survey found that Arsenal fans are charged 10 times more for their cheapest season ticket than the equivalent at Barcelona or Bayern Munich.

 

For the cheapest available season ticket at Arsenal fans must fork out £1,014. Just two clubs in the country charge more for any season ticket; Chelsea’s most expensive is £1,250 while Tottenham’s is £1,895.

 

The most expensive season ticket at the Emirates? A whopping £2,013.

 

 

Both of those prices represent a three per cent rise on last season’s. None of the other three clubs who finished in the Champions League positions last season-  Liverpool, Chelsea and Manchester City – had any rise in price whatsoever. Neither did Tottenham, nor Chelsea.

 

In fact, Everton were the only other club in last season's top seven who saw prices in either the cheapest or most expensive season ticket prices rise.

 

However, Arsenal’s average match day ticket price did drop, albeit slightly, from £45 to £43. The most expensive single match ticket cost £126 last season but that came down to £97 for this campaign.

 

According to the club’s latest financial accounts, last season’s season and match day ticket sales contributed to a total match day revenue of £100m for the season.

 

Arsenal majority owner Stan Kroenke could face stern questions over the costly tickets by minority shareholders at the club’s AGM tomorrow.
