PREVIEW | MOTOREXPO 2010 AT CANARY WHARF
Docklands is going to become petrolhead heaven next week as the area plays host to the annual Canary Wharf London Motorexpo. The free event see Canary Wharf’s spaces filled with displays of many of the zippiest, funkiest and downright grooviest new cars from some of the biggest names in the auto industry. It’s a chance to ogle at the most advanced machines around as well as gain an idea of the directions in which car design is heading. Here are a few of the highlights:
BENTLEY CONTINENTAL SUPERSPORTS CONVERTIBLE
The classic British carmaker’s four-seater mixes those beefy Bentley proportions with sleekness and sexiness, and the kind of power that’ll take you from zero to 60mph in less than four seconds.
ALFA ROMEO
The Alfa 8C Spider is the Italian marque’s stupendously cool new soft-top, and it’ll be on show alongside the Mito MultiAir Cloverleaf – about the most stylish runaround you can get.
NORTON
Motorcycles that are the very essence of dashing English cool are Norton’s stock in trade, and its 2010 Norton Commando 961 Café Racer – and breathe – is a thing of real, two-wheeled beauty.
LE MANS
The event includes an exhibition of classic vehicles to have taken part in the Le Mans 24 hour race, with vehicles from the likes of Aston Martin, Audi, Ferrari and Porsche amongst others. The showcase is organised by BEN, the charity for those working in the automotive industries. www.ben.org.uk.
