Prepare for party season with a choice treatment
Dunhill: Instant Eye Repair
This gem of a spa is located at the luxury clothier’s emporium at Bourdon House in Mayfair. There are a range of treatments for men (and lately, women too) but for party season we think this one will pack a great punch for the busy Mayfair-ite – after all, fresh and sparkling eyes never fail to charm. In this half-hour treatment, specialised massage techniques improve circulation and create drainage, which helps to reduce puffiness and bags. Natural plant extracts and rich oils will leave your eyes glowing and dewy. 2 Davies Street. £45 for 30 mins. 020 7853 4440, www.dunhill.com.
Su Man: Facial
Born in Taiwan, ex-professional dancer Su Man Hsu’s signature facial is almost insanely good: one of those treatments where – after a tussle between pain and pleasure – pure bliss wins out, leaving your face feeling born-again. It’s Hsu’s Shiatsu-inspired massage style – the rapidity and deftness with which her fingers race over your face and neck is quite amazing – and the depth with which she applies oils, that seems to do it. Good luck finding a treatment of this calibre elsewhere: it’s this reasoning that takes her phalanx of devotees all the way to her Crouch End home for treatments. £120 for 90 minutes. To book: 07779 151346 or email su-man@blueyonder.co.uk.
Gentleman’s Tonic: Indian Head
One of City A.M.’s favourite haunts for masculine-style pampering, GT has a range of good treatments for those in need of a pick-me-up. The Indian Head is quick and effective, getting you where you need it most. The massage works on the muscular tissue of the neck, shoulders, scalp and face and reduces any headaches, eye strain and tension that may have cropped up as you struggle to balance hard work with hard play. 31 Bruton Place. 30 mins for £42. 0207 297 4343, www.gentlemenstonic.com.
Four Seasons: Deep cleansing and pore refining facial
One of the most impressive spas in London and certainly the one with the best view (all windows, it looks out over Hyde Park), the FS spa offers lots of indulgences, but we reckon this one will leave your face looking properly party-ready. An exfoliating rosemary and pineapple extract scrub gets the dross off, before a mineral-rich moor mud mask draws out impurities and nourishes the skin. A Hungarian facial massage (the Hungarians are circulation-boosting gurus) stimulates collagen and elastin production and accelerates the delivery of oxygen and nutrients to the skin. A rose lifting serum and eye cream completes the picture, sending you out looking like you’ve just come back from holiday. Hamilton Place, Park Lane. 80 minutes for £160. 020 7319 5480, www.fourseasons.com.
Four London: Dr Duve Back therapy
If you plan to show your back in a super-glam dress, it better look good. Well, Munich dermatological superstar Dr Duve has just the thing. His “freshlift” back therapy cleanses, exfoliates and hydrates the back area by using a combination of jet peel with boosters alongside his own deep cleansing and anti-aging products. An enzyme mask refines and tones, before a jet peel (a rather freaky but great – and very powerful – water suction pipe) is applied all over the back to cleanse and clarify the skin and to stimulate circulation. Finally, your therapist applies a mask to further nourish before massaging a final hydrator into your back. Baby certainly got back. 62 Conduit Street. £85 for 45 minutes. 0207 297 9600, www.fourlondon.com.
