Prepare for London’s first 4DX cinema – complete with bubbles, scents and motion chairs
Cinema is about to get even more thrilling with London's first 4DX theatre due to open in Wandsworth next month.
3D? IMAX? That's so old news. Get ready for the latest in cutting edge cinematic viewing – 4DX – with special effects to stimulate all five of your senses at a new screen in Cineworld Wandsworth.
The seats will rock you from side to side, up and down and vibrate, and will even tickle your feet from underneath.
Not for the faint-hearted, the new cinema screen will see scents and water blasted out from the seats in front of you, and bubbles and wind can float down from overheard. Depending on the film, the effects will complement the on-screen action.
The 148-seater cinema is currently under construction, and will open on Friday 9 December, ready for the blockbuster of the season, Rogue One: A Star Wars Story. The effects to be used alongside the film are still being developed, but are likely to include a combination of the above.
Cineworld opened its first 4DX screen in Milton Keynes in January, and now has eight branches across the country. The concept originally came from South Korea, and now more than 300 movies have been featured in 4DX cinemas.
Ticket prices vary between cinemas in the UK, but tickets for the London branch are likely to be priced between £15 and £18.
