Premier League: Arsenal find touch of quality to post fourth successive league win

ARSENAL boss Arsene Wenger insisted his side rediscovered their customary flourish in the second period of their clash with QPR at Loftus Road last night to record a fourth successive Premier League win.
France striker Olivier Giroud notched his fifth strike in as many games, taking his season’s tally to 10 league goals, before Alexis Sanchez doubled the Gunners’ lead with a close-range finish.
Relegation-threatened QPR ensured a nervy finale as prolific hitman Charlie Austin found the net for the 15th time this season in front of watching England manager Roy Hodgson, although Arsenal survived to remain third and on-course for automatic Champions League qualification.
“We needed to be strong and get the ball down more, to get back to our game, and we did that better in the second half, I felt it was all us,” said Wenger.
QPR stay in 18th place and three points adrift of safety, but have now recorded just one victory in 10 league fixtures and still have to face top-four contenders Tottenham, Chelsea, Liverpool and Manchester City in their remaining 11 matches.
Interim boss Chris Ramsey said: “We played very well but you cannot keep being unlucky and sorry that you lost the game. Detail has cost us and it is the detail that matters. We can’t keep relying on Charlie Austin.”
