Premier League: Allardyce rues missed chances as goal-shy West Ham draw
SWANSEA CITY 0 vs WEST HAM UNITED 0
WEST Ham manager Sam Allardyce was left to bemoan his side’s lack of killer instinct as they drew a blank for the fifth time in nine Premier League games.
The visitors, fielding a team without a recognised centre forward, came closest to breaking the deadlock in the first half, but defender Angel Rangel hooked Razvan Rat’s free-kick off the line.
But Guy Demel, Ravel Morrison and Kevin Nolan were all guilty of missing the target with good opportunities and Allardyce knows his team must start scoring.
“They were simple chances,” he said. “It’s our fifth clean sheet in nine matches, but we have nine points and that’s not good enough.”
Swansea struggled to trouble the Hammers but were aggrieved not to be awarded a 91st-minute penalty when Joe Cole appeared to block Nathan Dyer’s cross with his hand.
