Police quiz Huhne over driving row
EMBATTLED cabinet minister Chris Huhne was last night interviewed by police over allegations that he asked someone else to take driving licence penalty points on his behalf.
The energy secretary is fighting for his political life over the accusations, made by his estranged wife Vicky Pryce, that he made her accept the points incurred for a speeding offence.
The alleged offence is said to have occurred in March 2003 while Huhne was returning from Stansted Airport.
Huhne was a member of the European parliament at the time and regularly travelled between his London home and the Essex airport, where he would fly in from Brussels.
Essex police also interviewed Pryce last night, according to her lawyer.
No arrests have been made by the police force in connection with the inquiries.
A spokeswoman for Huhne said: “Chris Huhne helped Essex police with their inquiries today and looks forward to an early resolution of this issue.”
