Pogba moves Heineken bottle a day after Ronaldo snub dents Coca-Cola shares
France midfielder Paul Pogba removed a bottle of Heineken beer that had been placed in front of him at a Euro 2020 news conference.
The snub came a day after Portugal captain Cristiano Ronaldo moved aside Coca-Cola bottles in a similar set-up, sending the company’s shares down by $4bn.
Pogba removed the bottle when he sat down to speak to the media after his country’s 1-0 win over Germany in Group F.
Heineken, which is an official sponsor of Euro 2020 along with Coca-Cola, has not yet responded.
After its market value dropped to $238bn from $242bn yesterday, Coca-Cola released a statement that said, “everyone is entitled to their drink preferences” with different “tastes and needs”.
Coca-Cola had recovered most of the lost value today, but continued to trade 0.65 per cent lower this afternoon.
