Pochettino to stay at Saints
SOUTHAMPTON manager Mauricio Pochettino reaffirmed his commitment to the job yesterday after receiving reassurances regarding the club’s future from owner Katharina Liebherr.
Following the surprise departure of chairman Nicola Cortese on Wednesday, Pochettino was tipped to follow him out of the St Mary’s exit door having said last year “I would not understand a Southampton without Nicola”.
However, after a short meeting with Liebherr yesterday, Pochettino said: “I am committed to this club. It makes no sense to leave in the middle of this path.”
Pochettino went on to say “none” of his first team players were for sale this month, after left-back Luke Shaw and striker Rickie Lambert were linked with moves.
