Pietersen left red faced after being bowled out for a golden duck
ENGLAND rebel Kevin Pietersen endured a humiliating afternoon yesterday, after being bowled out first ball in a limited overs game for Surrey.
In his first competitive outing since being dropped from the England squad, Pietersen was subjected to some booing from the crowd at the Ageas Bowl near Southampton.
And after taking to the crease, the maverick batsman was dismissed for a golden duck by Hampshire’s spin-bowler Liam Dawson.
Pietersen has been at loggerheads with the England and Wales Cricket Board (ECB) over his involvement in the lucrative Indian Premier League (IPL), although he recently sought to assure the authorities that he would be fully committed to England, if selected.
Yet he was dropped from the squad for the final Test against South Africa after sending provocative text messages to the opposition, including comments about fellow England players.
Pietersen’s Surrey team lost yesterday’s tie against Hampshire by four wickets.
