The moment Mario Draghi got glitter-bombed by a protestor
Spectators were shocked when this protester livened up European Central Bank president Mario Draghi's regular press conference … by jumping onto the table, screaming "end ECB dictatorship" and showering him with what looked like a glitter bomb.
She was then rushed away by security guards, as she smiled and made a "V for victory" sign at the camera.
Meanwhile, Draghi took the glitter bomb in his stride, going on to cover the single currency area's economic outlook, its €1.1 trillion stimulus programme, as well as the ongoing Greek debt crisis as planned.
After the incident the protester was widely identified as Josephine Witt a 21-year old former member of the activist group Femen. She managed to gain entry to the ECB by posing as a journalist for a news organisation.
"Initial findings suggest that the activist registered as journalist for a news organisation she does not represent. Like all visitors to the ECB, she went through an identity check, metal detector and x-ray of her bag, before entering the building," Frankfurt said in a statement.
"ECB President Mario Draghi remained unharmed and calmly proceeded with the press conference."
