Pictures: City accountancy group gives a rat a home
Accountants and street art might not be your traditional bedfellows but it seems one City-based accountancy group has stepped up to look after a rare work by Banksy, which has been searching for a good home since its discovery in February.
The painting, Lab Rat, was rediscovered in a warehouse and was being looked after by art buyer John Brandler but the large painting was causing some spatial issues for the dealer.
UHY Hacker Young, a national accountancy firm based in Wapping has agreed to house the painting by the UK’s most infamous spray paint wielding satirist, until it finds a suitable buyer.
It hasn’t been the easiest of handovers though, the group had to remove its door frames to get the painting into the building.
“We are delighted to have been asked by John Brandler of Brandler Galleries to display such a valuable work of art while it finds the right permanent owner,” said Ladislav Hornan, managing partner of UHY Hacker Young.
“We were so determined to save such a great piece work from life in storage that we went to great lengths to getting it into our building, removing doorframes and at one point even considering using a hoist to get it in.”
We can also only hope the group’s clients don’t get twitchy around rats…
