Patel drafted in for injured Ansari
ENGLAND have recalled Nottinghamshire all-rounder Samit Patel from three years in the Test wilderness after Surrey youngster Zafar Ansari was ruled out of next month’s series against Pakistan.
Spinner Ansari had been in line for a debut during the three-match series in the United Arab Emirates but dislocated his thumb on the day of his call-up earlier this month and was yesterday precluded on medical grounds.
Patel, who like Ansari also bowls left-arm spin, has five caps but the last of the 30-year-old’s Test appearances came in December 2012 against India.
