Parliament spends £32,955 of taxpayer money on designer chairs
Parliament has splashed out an astonishing £32,955 on chairs. The figure was revealed in response to a freedom of information (FOI) request when curiosity was raised after a new batch of designer chairs made their debut in the Portcullis House Atrium.
Parliament responded to this FOI request:
I have recently noticed that there are new chairs in Portcullis House outside the despatch box coffee house, the adjournment and the canteen.
I'd like to ask for some information about the chairs. Please disclose when the chairs were purchased, how many were purchased, where the chairs have been put (please specify if somewhere other than Portcullis House), what is the make and model of the chairs, what is the cost of the chairs.
In total 300 new chairs were purchased on 27 November 2013. The new furniture is of the Rabami make and the model is Noor.
