FLASHDANCE COMES TO THE STAGE
It’s all about legwarmers, leotards and doing the splits to Giorgio Moroder’s What a Feeling at the Shaftsbury Theatre, where Flashdance, the 80s cinematic cheesefest about a female welder who dreams of making it to ballet school, is opening in stage musical form. Victoria Hamilton-Barritt stars as leotard-sporting, high-kicking Alex, in the role made famous in the film by Jennifer Beals. 14 Oct-26 Feb (previewing now), Shaftesbury Theatre, 210 Shaftesbury Avenue. Tickets £20-£55, www.flashdancethemusical.com
AFTERNOON TEA FOR A GENTLEMAN
One might assume that heading out for posh high tea in the afternoon would be of more interest to gals than guys, but not at Sanctum Soho, the boutique hotel, which has launched a Gentlemen’s Afternoon Tea. As well as a silver tankard of Jack Daniels and a cigar to take to the roof garden, chaps can tuck into dishes like rabbit and pancetta pie, glazed oysters with Bloody Mary relish, and chocolate fudge cake with whiskey ice cream. From £50, 2-6pm every day (booking essential). Sanctum Soho, 20 Warwick Street. www.sanctumsoho.com
