O2 bites into Apple with package for Dell’s tablet
TELECOMS giant O2 hopes to muscle in on the roaring success of Apple’s iPad by offering a package for Dell’s new tablet device.
It will give free mobile connectivity to users already signed up to its mobile broadband package costing from £25 a month.
Dell hopes its new Streak tablet computer, which can double as a mobile phone, will help it compete with the iPad.
The five-inch tablet will hit shelves in the UK this Friday. Dell has yet to announce pricing for the Streak, which it said will appear in the US this summer.
Dell will be the first firm to take on the iPad with a device that runs on Google’s Android operating system.
