No, Arsene, Arsenal aren’t champions away from home — you’d still be fighting for top four
According to Arsene Wenger, Arsenal are the best away team in the Premier League.
In an extraordinary press conference in which the Gunners boss took aim at former players and members of the media, Wenger also argued that "we have to realise that away from home we are championship winners".
The Frenchman explained: "We lost the Championship at home against the lower teams, but we played sometimes at home in a very difficult climate … At home, against the smaller teams, we dropped points."

But do Wenger's claims stack up? Are Arsenal really champions on the road?
Well, here's how the top end of the Premier League table currently looks…
Position | Team | Played | W | D | L | Points |
1. | Leicester | 35 | 22 | 10 | 3 | 76 |
2. | Tottenham | 35 | 19 | 12 | 4 | 69 |
3. | Man City | 35 | 19 | 7 | 9 | 64 |
4. | Arsenal | 35 | 18 | 10 | 7 | 64 |
5. | Man United | 34 | 17 | 8 | 9 | 59 |
6. | West Ham | 34 | 14 | 14 | 6 | 56 |
And here's how it looks when you only factor in away games…
Position | Team | Played | W | D | L | Points |
1. | Leicester | 17 | 11 | 4 | 2 | 37 |
2. | Tottenham | 17 | 9 | 6 | 2 | 33 |
3. | Arsenal | 18 | 8 | 6 | 4 | 30 |
4. | Man City | 17 | 7 | 6 | 4 | 27 |
5. | Liverpool | 17 | 5 | 3 | 6 | 27 |
6. | Chelsea | 17 | 7 | 4 | 6 | 25 |
Clearly, Wenger's got his maths wrong somewhere along the line here. Arsenal are actually only the third best away team in the league so far this season having picked up seven points and three wins fewer than all-conquering Leicester.
Furthermore, Arsenal have played an away game more than their rivals at the top of the table meaning in this mythical travellers' championship both Manchester City and Liverpool could draw level with a win and leave the North Londoners with that all-too-familiar feeling — fighting it out for fourth.
Arsenal have at least scored more goals than anyone else away from home this season but then they've also conceded as many as such success stories as Chelsea, Everton and West Brom.
