Nigel Wilson would support more involvement of employees on boards
Nigel Wilson, chief executive of Legal & General Group, today gave the thumbs up to workers getting more involved at company board level.
When asked by the Business Committee whether there was anything to be frightened of about workers on boards, Wilson, who is also the chairman of Legal & General Investment Management (LGIM), answered "no".
"There's a lack of representation in a number of boards around workers and how we get more productive, less hostile engagement, is something that we at L&G, but also at LGIM, are very concerned about," Wilson added.
Prime Minister Theresa May has previously championed installing workers onto boards, first revealing her plans when she was campaigning for Conservative party leadership over the summer.

However, the proposals garnered a number of critics and May has more recently backed down over these measures.
Wilson also said today: "We are the world leaders in corporate governance…However, we can't be complacent about that and there are vast areas that we can improve in because it's a relatively low bar."
