Naked Wines toasts to strong sales of rosé
NEVER MIND the chocolate eggs. Britons were celebrating Easter this year with a glass of rosé, according to Naked Wines, which reported a jump in sales over the Bank Holiday weekend.
The boutique online wine retailer, whose customers, or angels, invest over £2m each month towards future orders, said sales of rosé wine jumped by 37 per cent in the run-up to Easter lifting overall group sales by 20 per cent year-on-year.
The crowdfunding company said Champagne, Prosecco and Cava also performed strongly, with overall fizz up 18 per cent compared to last year.
Overall, Naked Wines sold 12 per cent more bottles over Easter than last year.
“Our sales have been strong since the year began, but the surge we’ve seen this Easter gives us confidence that it could be a really good year ahead for Naked Wines,” UK boss Eamon Fitzgerald said.
