N Brown says revamp has driven growth
N BROWN, the catalogue and online retailer posted a strong rise in sales yesterday, after it revamped product ranges, sharpened prices and invested in a bigger marketing push.
The company said sales rose 8.5 per cent in the 19 weeks to 12 January while sales at stores open more than a year rose 7.9 per cent.
Online sales grew 17 per cent, and now account for almost 54 per cent of the total sales.
“We had the strongest gain in home and gift sales where we had gone for sharper prices,” chief executive Alan White said.
Jacamo and Simply Be, N Brown’s brands aimed at people over fifty, enjoyed the fastest growth, up by 35 per cent and 18 per cent respectively.
At a time when other retailers are moving online, N Brown has moved onto the high street and has opened seven Simply Be stores since 2011. The group said yesterday it may roll-out more stores in the future.
