N Brown eyes US expansion
N BROWN, the online and catalogue retailer which targets older and plus-sized shoppers, revealed yesterday it is plotting a major expansion push in the US after posting a 5.3 per cent rise in full-year profit.
Chief executive Angela Spindler said that while it sells three brands online in the US, it has decided to focus on expanding Simply Be as it exploits a gap in the market for younger fashion-focused female shoppers needing larger sizes.
N Brown, which has been opening its first UK stores, said profits rose to £100.1m in the year to March with sales up 6.4 per cent to £834.9m.
