Murray and Baltacha join Watson in round three
WORLD No4 Andy Murray cruised into the second round of the French Open with a straight sets victory over qualifier Eric Prodon on another momentous day for British tennis at Roland Garros.
After the heroics of teenager Heather Watson on Monday, Elena Baltacha ensured that, along with Murray, Britain will boast three players in the second round of the French Open for the first time in 27 years after her 7-5 6-2 over Sloane Stephens.
After his 6-4, 6-1, 6-3 win, Murray said: “It was a tough match. There was no rhythm really to it. He didn’t want to have any long rallies.”
