Mumsnet pulls Thomas Cook adverts over Corfu deaths compensation scandal
Mumsnet has pulled Thomas Cook adverts from its website after its users protested.
The travel company was embroiled in a scandal after it claimed a payout from a hotel in Corfu where two children died in 2006. Mumsnet said Thomas Cook was also keen for the adverts to be taken down, as they were inspiring negative comments on the popular forum.

Justine Roberts, Mumsnet chief executive said:
Mumsnet users – understandably – felt that we should stop promotional activity for Thomas Cook on the site, given the details that emerged during the inquest, so we took the decision to pull the campaign. Thomas Cook also wanted to call a halt to things, as they were getting lots of criticism on the site.
Two children, Robert and Christianne Shepherd died from fumes leaked by a faulty boiler at the Louis Corcyra beach hotel. They had booked the holiday through Thomas Cook.
Thomas Cook was cleared in 2010 of responsibility and was subsequently paid £3.5m in damages and legal costs. It later donated £1.5m to children’s charity Unicef.
