Shrove Tuesday 2015: MPs get battered by journalists in annual pancake charity race
Flipping MPs is sadly not a new thing, as followers of the expenses saga will remember. Yesterday, a group of MPs were flipping pancakes, not mortgages, taking part an annual charity race against Westminster journalists.
A cross-party selection of MPs took on a media team led by Sky’s Sophy Ridge, who crossed the line first. The victorious captain said: “The weeks of early morning flipping training, the strict diet of pancakes and lemon-only drinks have finally paid off.”
The event is for Rehab, which helps marginalised people to live independently.
Peter Brammall, Rehab’s chief operations officer in England and Wales, commented: “The Rehab Parliamentary Pancake Race has now been going for 18 years and the enthusiasm, passion and commitment of the participants continues to grow.”
