Moyes hints at United bid for Spurs star Bale
MANCHESTER United manager David Moyes refused to rule out an audacious late bid for Real Madrid target Gareth Bale, after it emerged a second suitor has declared an interest in Tottenham’s £94m star.
Real were hopeful of finalising a world record move for the Wales forward last week and had erected a stage inside their Bernabeu home in order to unveil him to supporters.
Replica shirts with Bale’s name and No11 printed on the back were also briefly available to order via Real’s official website, though that product was swiftly withdrawn from the online store.
Tottenham chairman Daniel Levy is thought to be unhappy at Real’s conduct throughout the dealings between the clubs and, with claims of a second team now having thrown their hat in the ring, Bale’s dream move to Spain is seemingly in doubt.
And Moyes did little to distance his club with a move for the 24-year-old when asked about his interest.
“Manchester United are always interested in the best players,” he said.
“We’re always looking to try and improve the team and to try and find those players.”
Bale is due to return to training with Spurs this morning, having spent the weekend in Spain.
However, it remains unlikely he will still be at White Hart Lane beyond the 2 September transfer deadline.
