Moya Greene wants strike safeguards
ROYAL Mail chief executive Moya Greene yesterday called for her company to be protected from strike action, as the main postal union prepares to announce the result of a strike ballot against privatisation.
“We need to start thinking about what sort of protections do we need as a company from our people from what has been probably too quick an approach to resort to industrial action,” Greene told ITV. “I just think we need to look at alternative ways to resolve disputes.”
The Communication Workers Union is confident of winning today’s strike ballot of its 100,000 members and a national walkout could be held before the end of this month, with regional strikes to follow.
Greene also hinted at future stamp price hikes and said the postal service was not sold below market value.
