Mourinho gets his man as Ozil joins for £12m
JOSE MOURINHO yesterday added to his star-studded list of Galacticos at Real Madrid by completing the signing of German World Cup star Mesut Ozil.
The 21-year-old is to undergo a medical at the Bernabeu today after agreeing to move from Werder Bremen for a €15m (£12.6m) fee.
Ozil, also a target for Manchester United, established himself as one of Europe’s hottest properties following a string of impressive performances in the World Cup.
He now becomes Mourinho’s sixth major signing of the summer, joining Germany team-mate Sami Khedira, ex-Chelsea defender Ricardo Carvalho, Spanish pair Pedro Leon and Sergio Canales and Argentina’s Angel di Maria.
Bremen’s director of sport, Klaus Allofs, said: “We respect that Mesut wants to go and take the next step in his career.”
