Morgan Stanley pushes further into the cloud via new Microsoft partnership
Morgan Stanley and Microsoft today announced a cloud partnership to accelerate the bank’s IT improvements and explore the application of the cloud in financial services.
The partnership will see cooperation between the Microsoft Azure and Morgan Stanley Technology teams, focussed on solving problems in financial services.
This will include developing and co-designing new digital infrastructure for developers and employees, increasing the number of cloud-native services offered by Morgan Stanley and improved data sharing with institutional clients.
The collaboration should help inform Microsoft’s product offering in the financial services industry and allow for further cooperation opportunities, the companies clarified.
The teams will also work on Morgan Stanley’s adoption of the Microsoft GitHub development environment.
Rob Rooney, head of technology, operations and firm resilience at Morgan Stanley, said the partnership was a “natural extension” of the companies’ existing engineering relationship and will “address the complexities of a global regulated financial industry, and help Microsoft enhance its cloud offering to stay at the forefront of client-centric innovation”.
