Monument Global gloat after the investment firm takes home the London Stock Exchange Darts championship trophy
News reaches The Capitalist that brokers at Winterflood Securities just aren't what they used to be.
That's as far as Bully boys from investment firm Monument Global are concerned, at least. The group took on City boys from the likes of Winterflood, KBW, Macquarie and Jeffries last month to take home the special prize at the annual London Stock Exchange Darts Competition.
The trophy has returned from the engravers today, so now the rest of the City can look at what they could have won…
Seasoned dartists David Wood, Simon Pennington, Adam Ward, Justin Sanders, Brendon Spinner and Lee Hunter beat reigning champions from Winterflood to take home the Dickey Green Darts Shield.
David "Chopper" McKay, Monument's resident cheerleader for the night, tells The Capitalist that the London Stock Exchange takes its "athletics" extremely seriously.
He said: "The LSE have been doing this since 1995. They call it the athletics club, but apart from the darts it's mostly a few old farts like myself hogging the bar while the younger ones play".
Despite high tensions between the teams, everything was super, smashing and great.
Winterflood has been the biggest name on the City darts circuit since the tournament's launch over 20 years ago, and teams from the broker have taken the title for the last two. They may have had a good night out, but sadly went home with nowt.
"We've only just finished gloating", said McKay as the chaps sat back down to work this week. "It must have annoyed them".
The LSE is curently split over a decision to merge with German equivalent Deutsche Borse, but the folks at Monument are undeterred. "Maybe we'll be taking on the Dax in Europe next year."
