Minicab firm Addison Lee growth plan accelerates to New York
ADDISON Lee, Europe’s largest minicab company, will take on the US market after yesterday announcing plans to launch a new fleet of cabs in New York City.
The transport firm said success in London has given it the resources to tap the US market, which it values at £2.2bn. The move will see the company run close to 4,000 minicabs.
The company has benefited from its continued utilisation of technology, especially its Addison Lee app which includes a “take me home” function allowing the customer to book a cab home in two taps.
Addison Lee’s proprietary booking and allocation software has also been developed and integrated into a number of existing New York ground transport providers, with further development planned for the future.
The firm, sold to private equity owner Carlyle Group in 2013, offers a service which is popular with blue chip corporate clients.
“The extension of the Addison Lee business across the Atlantic is a fundamental part of a wider global roll out that aims to create a truly integrated global network of ground transport providers.”
